What Is it?

I would like to know what is so wrong about my resume
that other candidates meet the requirements?
Really what is it?
What does it take to be an administrative assistant?
A college degree, bilingual with language abilities?
Experience with online media? or what about writing for fashion columns?
Hmm...let's see or perhaps you need another degree to look good on paper
What else?
All these jobs and not even close to the cigar :<

Trabajo

Image

La esclavitud
eso hace muchos años, se quedo atrás
hoy en día las cosas han cambiado
por lo menos eso parece

Aunque aveces surgen casos...

Tarde Pa'l Cine

Before the movies,
they had ice cream
a whole 10 minute walk from the theater
On their own time of course which was 7:47
regardless of the 7:45 indicated on the movie ticket

They walked back and opened the door to the dark theatre
where they find two seats in a corner
in a sold out movie nonetheless

So the people in the aisle stand
giving them some room to walk
but the next people just sat there
they didn't even move their feet

The inevitable happened
and the lady went "ow my foot"
really I guess she expected the girls to just float over it
the deeper they got in the aisle
the harder it was to get through
there was just no space

They stood there for a good 5 seconds
until finally the initiative was taken
and she just walked through
nobody else complained about their foot
they were just glad it was dark

When they made it to their seats
one of them was broken
causing them to just burst out laughing

If they would have gotten there on time
they probably would have avoided
the pre-game giggles
but what fun would there have been in that?

So…

So it's personal
but it's also normal
I think that everyone goes through it
at least once
Crisismid life, quarter crisis

That point in which you ask yourself
"what is it that I want to do with my life?"
Do you want to be a pilot
like in the 1st grade?
What about a dentist
to see what's behind the taste buds
and the teeth that chew

Some girls wanted to be mommies
Some boys power rangers
Well why not?

It's never too late to try
but–
what about money?
who's going to pay rent?
what's going to buy food?

Well you didn't have to quit your day job
your hobby can be your part time fun
Enjoy yourself
be willing to Live!
It's all about the risk
and feeling of exhilaration

Go for it
and make sure to jam out while you do =)

Reject

R is for rejection because many times
you just try & try
and it all feels hopeless
To have one door closed after another is not at all fun
it's disheartening

Sometimes it seems easier to give up
bur for each of those doors that close
one is waiting to be opened
Waiting for someone like you to reach in
turn the handle and push it open

What are you waiting for to just open?

?

Still unsure of where to go
of where to start
She paces back and forth
And she returns to that place
all too familiar
to her
and so many others
that haven't got a clue
of where to begin

Aun

Cada lágrima que cae el mar
es un pesar

Saber que en las noches
tus trastornos tienen origen
de tal conocido
es un pesar

Sentir el dolor reflejado en tus ojos
es como sentir un trueno de sollozos
tristes

Maybe One Day

He told her that it's not a quarter life crisis (not at 24)

but a pre-mid life crisis

and that perhaps it may do with a drink or two ;-)

She enjoyed hearing him speak

and their conversations at a reasonable hour

about this and sometimes about that

The ways of his style

living to be his own person

and not for another

Careful and secure

exerting the utmost qualities

Maybe one day she'll tell him

that she'd like to be a little like him

and that it's really ok to open the door to let someone in

Tal Vez

Listening

Walking in the subway

she followed some advice and listened

to the noise of people's feet

to the conversations caught in the air

to the man and his violin

He played a song so sad

it seemed to be the reason for which people scurried

across the square tiles that made the floor

they didn't want to listen

they didn't want to provoke

the tears that swam near the borders of their eyes

threatening to rush out

and soak their cheeks

if they would slow down and listen to the song

So the feet went even faster

when they heard his melody

eyes looked straight ahead

She almost wanted to stop

ask why his song played so sadly

but then her eyes blinked twice

to keep back the tears

Home

I want to go home

To that place where la vecina

plays Vuelve con tu Papa by Teodoro Reyes

(like everyone else down the block)

y aveces ellas botan mucha agua limpiando,

To that place where colmadones are poppin'

people jam at the carwash while Omega is singing live

Si no me amas"

and the megadivas, well they got it goin' on!!!

I want to go and stop at Jacaranda

on my way to the capital

order some yuca con longaniza

saving some for el camino

I want to hear the cucurucucu del gallo

a la 5 de la mañana when I'm still en el 3 sueño

and the persianas still don't block out Vakero's Que mujer tan chula at eleven

because the vecina, she made up with the vecino...

simple right?

hmm...maybe not

mejor no, separados y tal vez mas rápido

after scraping a little, the toast looked fine

Generation G

Generation G because there is a thing called GPS and all the young people can't seem to get around with out it. It's as if a handheld map is something foreign to them and encrypted text on an electrical gadget that talks back to them and tells them where to go is of the most normal.

To consult the paper which unfolds to a map of the 5 boroughs is just a little bit more time consuming. To press in a few "buttons" on the touch tone screen with a computerized voice is easier as long as the map loads quickly.

And these things just happen to multiply into all sorts of forms because now even those cellular things called phones have GPS too. For a small fee of a probable $9.99 extra a month, one doesn't have to worry about the directions and how to get there. Why instead of talking into your phone, it talks back to you and tells you that at 500 ft there will be a turn coming up and that you should stay to your right and perhaps merge too. To think that if someone would have told us 10 years ago that we would be following a little computer that talks back to us and depend so much on it, we may have looked at them as if they were wearing last seasons resort collection in mid winter. Bemused & befuddled. Yet that is exactly what has happened, now we must make sure to have the latest model of that positioning system because we also need to calculate the most efficient way to get somewhere all the whilst saving gas and time of course, oh and traffic too. It's important to get to our point b from point a in a timely manner.

That little squared object that needs to be charged after a certain period of time and who at some point in the near future may not even need to be plugged into the car, but to the solar charger that keeps it going. Perhaps one day they will come with a little solar window making things the more easy to pack.

GPS? Check. Car? Check. Car keys? Check. Directions? oh yes definite check.

To go and to get back. To keep going and drive on. GPS what would we do with out you? Be a little more resourceful? Hmm...but how? What would we search to do?

Simply find a way to make the map reading a little easier. To somehow insert it in an apparatus that will position properly and move along with us. One that would show us a view of the near by streets and roads that we drive through. The little signs that we pass by and the actual formation of the streets too.

Wait, we already have that. It's called general position satellite or something.

But it's o.k. to have such a gadget because it makes things a little bit easier when one has not direction. All you need is a place to go and GPS will tell you how to get there. It would be quite fabulous if there were something in life that helped us out the same way when we aren't exactly sure of where we are going. Then again, I guess that is where prayer takes part and we ask for some sort of direction to help us take our path.

Oh generation g, we that are still growing and learning who we want to be and what we want to do. We that are still unsure where we want to be and how to get there...In the mean time, we have GPS to help us out a little. Keep straight and prepare to turn right at 77 ft and you will reach your destination on right.
