Love in the USA

It is about making America great again
Because right now, it's evident that America's love is at an all time low
We're fighting a civil war with each other
And need more actions to put it to an end

There are pressing issues in each state
That need to be resolved
North Jersey is loosing pre-schools
To make room for rehabilitation centers
In an attempt to fight against the opioid epidemic

The bigger problem however is the fact that so many people feel the need to turn away from reality and get lost in Wonderland

Tell me Mr. Trump
Tell me Mrs. Clinton
How are you going to make America human again?
If I knew the answer I would be running, but I don't and so I'm simply sharing

Plant more seeds of love
Watch your words
And make an effort to make those nasty women sweet
And those bad hombres good

Have compassion & tolerance
Because if you have nothing nice to say
Well then don't say anything at all

Beginnings and Ends

Well, she was at it again
Purposely sabotaging a would be relationship
With a nice guy
Someone that she didn't always understand
yet wanted to know more of

A person whose way of thinking
was the complete opposite of her's
A challenge that she happily welcomed
and of course one that she just ruined

She knew she was wrong in doing so
But she just couldn't go back
The words of an apology struggled
to meet her lips and make it outside
to touch the air and become vocal

So she just took it
With a deep breath and a sigh of resignation
She accepted that it was over
With a smooth beginning
and a bumpy end
It was over

And for the first time ever
She just wasn't ok with it

Loose

She tried, boy did she try
To avoid getting to that point
Where the first thought after hearing the alarm
in the morning was 'is it Friday yet'

But it happened
Perhaps certain things just
couldn't be avoided
She gave it a go and landed
The job that she thought would be her dream

You know, when you have all this child like wonder
and dreams to fulfill
walking on sunshine…

Then it changed and she searched for the sun
hidden amidst the clouds

Her job became a chore and some what of a bore
The news couldn't hold her interest
Neither could the latest celebrity gossip
She was the glue
that tried to keep the pieces together
So the train could run smoothly

But there was just one part
that couldn't stay
To the naked eye it blended well
But up close, it hung loosely
And that was her
Waiting to fall off
and get picked up by something new
But no one knew…

Kalinikta

The night was enchanted by the glow
Of the full moon
Reflected on the still water
that made a ripple every once in a while
In the most silent of waves

The stars were able to take a peek
amidst the city lights
not too far away

And somewhere in between
There was a couple
2 shadows in the night
That moved every so often
To gasp for air?
Perhaps
Or to lean in closer
Until their shadow became one

In the night air
their love was evident
and it made it's mark

A mystery that would keep you
wondering all through out
to see if it was or wasn't
A real image or perhaps
A thought
An influence of the evening
and all it's magic…

Nice

In the beginning, our school teachers
did nothing but teach us to 'play nice' and befriend 'the new kid'
Our fellow 7 year old peers would say
'stop being a baby cry' and the very famous 'don't be a tattle tale'

And then we grew up and somehow forgot about
these simple but important things in life
To 'play nice' and be fair with our fellow human beings
ie stop spreading petty gossip
It does nothing for you–but draw away from your goodness

Instead of befriending the new kid
We have gone on to make fun of their differences
To shun them for things they have no control of
We have made them feel worse for being who they are

We have forgotten to be welcoming and make them feel at home
Somehow hospitality has been thrown out the window
Especially here, the place that prides itself with Lady Liberty

You know, the gift from the French that stand on Ellis Island
Where so many immigrants first step foot as they reached
The Land of the Free

This world is big enough for everyone
and then some
So why are we being so cruel?
Why can we not accept those migrants that have
Come from so far
To make a better living for themselves and their families

They want what we came here for
The American Dream
With hopes to one day return to that place
They once called home and say 'hey I made it,
With the help of some awesome people
That did nothing but make me feel at home'

Why can't we just embrace it?
The difference that makes this world go 'round
And has gifted us with so much beauty
I mean our fries are 'French' are they not?

It's time to stop being a tattle tale and pointing out the obvious
We're all different
It's time to stop being a 'baby cry' in a grown up pity party
It's time to let the new kid know that your the Fonz and say
'ey!' your more than ok! and have some Happy Days

Because in the end, it's what we all want
Happy Days
Full of kindness
Let's just play nice–it's much less stressful

Realization

image
There are times that it seems as if we're growing
But we're really not
We are just losing sight of what it really is that matters to us
Like the things that make us happy
The reason behind our smile

We call that 'Getting Caught Up In Work'
Ugh why does work have to be
such a bad name?
When did this happen?
How did it happen?

Is it adulthood?
Is it responsibility?
No…I think it's just losing sight of certain things
Forgetting what you liked so much
And somehow giving in to what is 'needed'

Don't do it!
Have your cake & eat it too!
Make the sacrifice and quit the excuses
Just be happy even if it is for a whole 20 minutes a day.

Something

image
And so she wondered
How did it happen?
What did she do?
To make him go away?

Was it something she said?
During those drunken nights
In which everyone was giddy with laughter
Perhaps the conversation was too much?

But he would barely say a word?
All that he did was make eye contact with her
To quickly avoid her glance
And then look to the floor

Did he misinterpret her words
Of friendliness towards others and good intentions?

As much as she questioned herself,
She could not come up with an answer
Nothing made sense
As to what caused his absence

But then again,
there are things that never do…

Liberatum

image
Never before had she felt so free
So liberated and ready to take on the world
To think that all it took was putting in the fear of holding on
So she did what she had to
She let go

She let it all go
And took in the thoughts of sunshine
The dream of travels
To places far away that she hadn't seen before
She was ready

She was ready to step on new soil
Because after all that, she was just
Not going to settle

What the Duck?

image

The duck face!
Who ever told girls that this was cute?
To take a picture in which your lips
Are more curled than Daisy Duck herself

This is not model cute
It's what is wrong with you chick?

Whatever happened to smiling in pictures?
You know showing those pearly whites
With or without braces
Looking happy, like you really wanted to be in the picture

Now you see girls puffing out their chests
Like the rooster from Looney Tunes
Shying away from the person in the photo
Well then why even take it with them?

Un pucker that sucker and enjoy the flash
Because even models know to smile once off the runway
